Privacy Policy
Background

Kalamunda Church of Christ respects and upholds the individual’s rights to privacy protection under the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (as amended). The Church collects personal details to administer an individual’s relationship with the Church, to provide any personal ministry, and to disseminate information on Church events and ministries.

Purpose
This policy outlines the commitments of the Church in relation to protections of a person’s privacy as required by law and the church constitution.
Policy Statement
Information Collected
The information collected will include but will not be limited to:

ï‚· Phone numbers and email addresses

ï‚· Details of donations where receipts for taxation and other purposes are required

ï‚· Communications between the person and the Church (eg letters, prayer requests,etc)

ï‚· An individual’s involvement in ministries

ï‚· Records of visits, phone calls and pastoral matters

ï‚· Staff details for superannuation, payroll and taxation purposes

ï‚· Information provided by the individual in surveys, registration forms, conversations emails and on-line.

The Church will endeavour to keep personal information up to date and accurate. The
Church will also endeavour to protect personal information from misuse, loss or unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
A copy of a person’s information will be made available to that person upon request.

Disclosure
The Church will not disclose personal information to any person except:

On a confidential basis to ministry staff members where it is needed for day-to-day ministry purposes;

On a confidential basis to members of the church or to those who have regular contact with the Church in connection with the Church’s activities if so required to provide a service to the individual;

With the individual’s prior consent (for example, the church directory); or
-
Or as required by Law.
Data Storage
If any personal information collected by the Church is stored or managed by a third party on behalf of the Church, the Church will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information will be held, used and disclosed by that third party in accordance with National Privacy Principles. The service provider managing the information for the church may store certain personal information outside Australia. Consent to the transfer of personal information outside Australia is given by submission of personal information to the Church.
Video Recording and Security Cameras
The Church may from time to time record video or images of services or activities for promotional, teaching or information purposes. Consent will be obtained before using and disclosing video and images for such purposes.
To increase security for people and the Church’s property and facilities, CCTV cameras may be installed in some public areas. Any data so collected will only be used form legitimate security reasons and in accordance with the church Privacy Policy and not published for any reason.
